FB Live Recap: My First ‘Play’ with Two-Tone Flora Bundle

On this week’s video, I showed the Two-Tone Flora Bundle and several ways to use the large die. This is a new bundle that will be in the 2023 January–April mini-catalog. The stamp set features several two-step flower stamps as well as a couple of leaf stamps. The coordinating die set has dies to crop the stamped images plus a large floral background die. The Designer Series Paper that coordinates has rather abstract designs in several different colors.

For this card, I used DSP that has various shades of Calypso Coral and Seafoam Green, which I layered onto the card base of Calypso Coral. I cropped Soft Seafoam cardstock with the large die for the next layer. Using Calypso Coral ink, I stamped two of the flower images and did one image with Daffodil Delight ink. The leaves and greeting were stamped with Soft Succulent ink.

This card starts with a base of Soft Succulent cardstock. A DSP layer is adhered to a piece of Evening Evergreen cardstock, then layered onto the card front. I again cropped Seafoam Green cardstock with the large die, but this time trimmed about half of the die cut away before gluing it onto the card front. I used one of the leaf sprigs that was cut away to embellish the greeting, which was stamped on Basic White cardstock and layered onto Evening Evergreen cardstock.

A white-on-white card is very elegant for a sympathy card, and the large die from this set is perfect for accomplishing that. Simply adhere the Basic White die cut to a Basic White cardstock base, then add a greeting and a white flower where the detail was stamped with Smoky Slate. The large flower image from this set fits perfectly over the large flower in the die cut.

There are lots of other ideas I have for the Two-Tone Flora bundle that are currently floating around in my head, but I intend to put them on paper very soon and I’ll be sharing those ideas with you!

Wintry Perched In A Tree Christmas Card

I used the Perched In A Tree bundle to create a couple of Christmas cards on my Facebook Live video this week. If you missed it, you can watch the replay here. Here’s another idea using this bundle that makes a beautiful Christmas card — or you can switch the greeting for a winter birthday card. The bird and branch are colored the same way as I demonstrated in my video, if you need a refresher.

Here are the cardstock requirements for this card:
  • Card Base: Balmy Blue – 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″ score at 4 1/4″
  • First Layer: Storybook Gnomes Designer Series Paper (snowflake pattern)-  5 1/4″ x 4″
  • Second Layer: Silver Foil 5 1/4″ x 4″, cropped with the Aspen Tree Die
  • Bird, Branch & Greeting: Scraps of Basic White
  • Leaf: Scrap of Silver Foil
  • Inside Layer: Basic White – 5 1/4″ x 4″
  • Strip for Inside Layer: Storybook Gnomes DSP 4″ x 1/2″

Directions:
  1. Adhere the silver cropped trees to the snowflake designer paper, then adhere to the card front.
  2. Use Versamark ink to stamp a bird and the branch on a scrap of basic white cardstock. Sprinkle with Silver Embossing Powder and set with the heat tool. Crop with the corresponding dies.
  3. Use a Waterpainter and Balmy Blue ink to add a very pale color to the bird. Refer to the Facebook Live video if you need to see how this is done.
  4. Use Versamark to stamp the greeting from the Mistletoe Magic stamp set onto a 3/4″ strip of basic white cardstock. Sprinkle with Silver embossing Powder and heat set. Trim the ends of the strip as desired.
  5. Attach the branch, bird, silver leaf, and greeting to the front of the card using dimensionals. Refer to photo for placement.
  6. For the inside, piece of basic white cardstock, stamp the sentiment from the Perched In A Tree stamp set with Versamark and emboss with Silver like you did for the greeting, bird, and branch.
  7. Add the strip of DSP to the top of this piece, then adhere to the inside of the card.

As I mentioned before, just switch the greeting and sentiment to turn this into an elegant winter birthday card.

FB Live Recap: Twisted Ribbon Christmas Card

For my sample, I used several of the dies and sentiments from the Framed Florets collection. This set is available for early-release ordering and will also be in the mini catalog that comes out in January. I used designer paper from the Boughs of Holly package of DSP.

This card design is simple to do and a great way to use up scraps of DSP, and it can be used for any occasion.

FB Live Recap: Gnomes FunFold Christmas Card

I love that this fun-fold card folds flat and fits in a standard A2-size envelope. I also love that when it opens, it stands up by itself and makes a cute decoration. Here’s what it looks like opened up:

Although it looks complicated, it’s actually very easy to make. It has very little stamping, just the sentiment. It does take several little pieces of cardstock and DSP, so make sure to cut them all first, and then you’re ready to put it together. Don’t let the number of pieces you need to cut dissuade you from making this card. If you watched the video, you’ve seen that it really is pretty easy to make. Once you’ve made one, I know you’ll want to make more! You can watch the replay here if you missed the live presentation.

FB Live Recap: Painted Pheasant Thanksgiving Cards

For my video this week, I wanted to try my hand at designing some Thanksgiving cards with the Painted Pheasant stamp set. There are only a few images in this set, with the pheasant being the focal piece. Although I made these cards specifically for the holiday, they would also be great for a masculine birthday card. The Rustic Harvest Designer Series Paper is so festive for a Fall card, I wanted to incorporate it into one of my designs. Of course, you can’t go wrong with the die-cut leaves from the Aspen Tree dies. Cut them out of foil paper and you add a touch of elegance as well!

If you missed the live presentation, you can watch the replay here. Join me each Tuesday at 2 p.m. ET where I demonstrate projects using the latest Stampin’Up! products. If you enjoyed the video, please consider sharing it on your timeline for others to view. Thank you!

Simple Rustic Harvest DSP Card

The Rustic Harvest Designer Series Paper has several papers with gorgeous full-color designs, but there are also a few with black and white designs. One of those happens to be a black background with detailed white leaves, and it’s perfect for customizing with your own colors. I’ve colored this card with lovely Fall colors, but you could also make this a striking card for summer or spring by changing the colors to pretty shades of green.

To start, cut a piece of the black and white leaf design Rustic Harvest DSP at 5 1/4″ x 4″.

Color the leaves with Stampin’ Blend markers, making sure to put a scrap of paper under the DSP since the Blends will bleed through the paper. For this card, I used the following Stampin’ Blends — Light Cajun Craze, Light Blackberry Bliss, Dark Pumpkin Pie, Light Cherry Cobbler, and Dark Daffodil Delight. Notice that I colored similar leaves the same color, and I also left one of the leaf designs white.

When you are done coloring, attach it to a 5 3/8″ x 4 1/8″ piece of Basic White cardstock, then adhere to the card base of Blackberry Bliss cut at 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″, scored at 4 1/4″.

Use Memento ink to stamp the greeting onto a 4″ x 2″ piece of Basic White cardstock, then crop with the corresponding die. Attach to the card front with dimensionals.

Use Pumpkin Pie ink to stamp the leaf image onto a scrap of Basic White cardstock, crop, then attach to the card front as shown in the picture.

For the inside, stamp the leaf image in the upper left corner of a 5 3/8″ x 4 1/8″ piece of Basic White cardstock. Add your sentiment with memento ink; for my card, I used the sentiment from the Eden’s Garden stamp set. Attach the stamped piece to the inside of the card.

Stamp the lower-left corner of a Basic White envelope with the leaf image using Pumpkin Pie ink.
