FB Live Recap: Queen Bee Bundle

I must admit, bees are not my favorite. I know they’re helpful for the garden, but I don’t like them! I hesitated to purchase the Queen Bee bundle just for that silly reason, but I broke down and got it. On my video this week, I showed my first efforts from using this bundle, and I think you’ll agree that there is a good deal of versatility in this set — and the bee and flower images are gorgeous.

If you missed the live presentation, you can watch the replay here. Join me on my Facebook group page each Tuesday at 2 p.m. ET for a video demonstration using the latest Stampin’Up products.

Golden Nested Friends

If you watched my Facebook Live video on January 3, you saw a few ideas using the new Nested Friends bundle. (If you missed the video, you can watch the replay here.) The more I play with this set, the more ideas pop up! Here’s another design using gold embossing for all the images and gold foil accents. I think you’ll agree this is another way to make this stamp set shine!

Here are the directions to recreate this card:
  • Layer a 5 3/8″ x 4 1/8″ piece of Gold Foil Paper onto an 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″ Basic White Card Base that has been scored at 4 1/4″.
  • Use the Fern 3D embossing folder to emboss a 5 1/4″ x 4″ piece of Basic White cardstock. Lightly apply Old Olive ink to the embossed piece using a Blender Brush, then adhere this to the card front.
  • Crop the large leaf frame from the Eden’s die set and three tiny leaf sprigs from the Nested Friends die set out of Gold Foil paper.
  • Use Versamark ink to stamp the bird, nest image, and spatter-dot image from the Nested Friends stamp set onto a scrap of Basic White cardstock. Sprinkle with Gold embossing powder and set with your heat tool.
  • Use Water Painters to color the bird with Balmy Blue, Crumb Cake, and Daffodil Delight ink, then crop with the coordinating die.
  • Use Water Painters to color the nest with Crumb Cake, Old Olive, and Calypso Coral ink, then crop with the coordinating die.
  • Crop the eggs from the cardstock with the gold embossed spatter cardstock.
  • Adhere the large leaf frame onto the card front.
  • Use dimensionals to attach the bird and nest to the card front — refer to the photo for placement.
  • Tuck the tiny gold leaf sprigs under the nest and glue them in place.
  • Glue one egg onto the nest and use a dimensional to adhere another egg onto the nest.

Inside:
  • Use Versamark to stamp a greeting of your choice onto a 5 1/4″ x 4″ piece of Basic white cardstock. For my card, I used a sentiment from the Eden’s Garden stamp set. Stamp the leaf sprig from the Framed Florets stamp set onto the upper left corner of this piece. Sprinkle the images with Gold embossing powder and set with your heat tool.
  • Use a water painter to color the leaves with Old Olive ink.
  • Adhere the finished piece to the inside of the card.

Envelope:
  • Use Versamark ink to stamp the leaf sprig from the Framed Florets stamp set to the lower left corner of the envelope.
  • Sprinkle with Gold embossing powder and set with your heat tool.

FB Live Recap: My First ‘Play’ with Two-Tone Flora Bundle

On this week’s video, I showed the Two-Tone Flora Bundle and several ways to use the large die. This is a new bundle that will be in the 2023 January–April mini-catalog. The stamp set features several two-step flower stamps as well as a couple of leaf stamps. The coordinating die set has dies to crop the stamped images plus a large floral background die. The Designer Series Paper that coordinates has rather abstract designs in several different colors.

For this card, I used DSP that has various shades of Calypso Coral and Seafoam Green, which I layered onto the card base of Calypso Coral. I cropped Soft Seafoam cardstock with the large die for the next layer. Using Calypso Coral ink, I stamped two of the flower images and did one image with Daffodil Delight ink. The leaves and greeting were stamped with Soft Succulent ink.

This card starts with a base of Soft Succulent cardstock. A DSP layer is adhered to a piece of Evening Evergreen cardstock, then layered onto the card front. I again cropped Seafoam Green cardstock with the large die, but this time trimmed about half of the die cut away before gluing it onto the card front. I used one of the leaf sprigs that was cut away to embellish the greeting, which was stamped on Basic White cardstock and layered onto Evening Evergreen cardstock.

A white-on-white card is very elegant for a sympathy card, and the large die from this set is perfect for accomplishing that. Simply adhere the Basic White die cut to a Basic White cardstock base, then add a greeting and a white flower where the detail was stamped with Smoky Slate. The large flower image from this set fits perfectly over the large flower in the die cut.

There are lots of other ideas I have for the Two-Tone Flora bundle that are currently floating around in my head, but I intend to put them on paper very soon and I’ll be sharing those ideas with you!

Wintry Perched In A Tree Christmas Card

I used the Perched In A Tree bundle to create a couple of Christmas cards on my Facebook Live video this week. If you missed it, you can watch the replay here. Here’s another idea using this bundle that makes a beautiful Christmas card — or you can switch the greeting for a winter birthday card. The bird and branch are colored the same way as I demonstrated in my video, if you need a refresher.

Here are the cardstock requirements for this card:
  • Card Base: Balmy Blue – 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″ score at 4 1/4″
  • First Layer: Storybook Gnomes Designer Series Paper (snowflake pattern)-  5 1/4″ x 4″
  • Second Layer: Silver Foil 5 1/4″ x 4″, cropped with the Aspen Tree Die
  • Bird, Branch & Greeting: Scraps of Basic White
  • Leaf: Scrap of Silver Foil
  • Inside Layer: Basic White – 5 1/4″ x 4″
  • Strip for Inside Layer: Storybook Gnomes DSP 4″ x 1/2″

Directions:
  1. Adhere the silver cropped trees to the snowflake designer paper, then adhere to the card front.
  2. Use Versamark ink to stamp a bird and the branch on a scrap of basic white cardstock. Sprinkle with Silver Embossing Powder and set with the heat tool. Crop with the corresponding dies.
  3. Use a Waterpainter and Balmy Blue ink to add a very pale color to the bird. Refer to the Facebook Live video if you need to see how this is done.
  4. Use Versamark to stamp the greeting from the Mistletoe Magic stamp set onto a 3/4″ strip of basic white cardstock. Sprinkle with Silver embossing Powder and heat set. Trim the ends of the strip as desired.
  5. Attach the branch, bird, silver leaf, and greeting to the front of the card using dimensionals. Refer to photo for placement.
  6. For the inside, piece of basic white cardstock, stamp the sentiment from the Perched In A Tree stamp set with Versamark and emboss with Silver like you did for the greeting, bird, and branch.
  7. Add the strip of DSP to the top of this piece, then adhere to the inside of the card.

As I mentioned before, just switch the greeting and sentiment to turn this into an elegant winter birthday card.

Don’t let the number of pieces you need to cut dissuade you from making this card. If you watched the video, you’ve seen that it really is pretty easy to make. Once you’ve made one, I know you’ll want to make more! You can watch the replay here if you missed the live presentation.
