FB Live Recap: Kindest Gnomes Ideas

I made a quick Facebook Live video this week to show a few alternate ideas for the Kindest Gnomes bundle. This bundle is in the new holiday mini-catalog, and I think it’s geared a little more toward Christmas cards. Since I love the cute gnomes, I wanted to use them for more than just Christmas. I paired the set with the pumpkins from the Hello Harvest set as well as the DSP from both sets and also the free Saleabration Rings of Love DSP.

Since the Gnomes Dies crop some of the gnomes and mushroom houses from the DSP, it’s very quick and easy to make cute gnome cards/projects. Add flowers or pumpkins and you have seasonal cards as well.

For this card, I layered a 5 1/4″ x 4″ piece of DSP from the Ring of Love package onto a card base of Parakeet Party cut at 11″ x 4 1/4″, scored at 5 1/2″.

I stamped the flower arrangement and the small flower from the Hello Harvest stamp set twice with Memento ink and colored them with Stampin’ Blends markers. I saved one of the small flowers to put by the gnome’s hand and glued the rest to the card front.

Using the dies from the Gnomes Dies, I cropped one of the mushroom houses and the gnome with the braided hair from the Storybook Gnomes DSP, gluing the house to the card front and adding the gnome with dimensionals.

For a little more interest, I added a small dragonfly punched from Tahitian Tide DSP and topped it with a Glossy Dot.

The inside is a 5 1/4″ x 4″ piece of Basic White cardstock on which I stamped a small flower and added a sentiment. I colored the flower to match the flowers on the front. Also stamped and colored a small flower on the envelope.

For this Fall card, I layered a 5 3/8″ x 4 1/8″ piece of Mossy Meadow cardstock onto a card base of Very Vanilla cut at 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″, scored 4 1/4″, then I added a 5 1/4″ x 4″ piece of DSP from the Ring of Love package.

I used Pumpkin Pie cardstock to crop the pumpkin pieces using the Rustic Pumpkin Dies. Using Mossy Meadow cardstock, I cropped the stems and vines from the same die set. I attached these to the card front, one with glue, one with dimensionals.

For the gnome, I used Rustic Harvest DSP to crop the hat and body/shoes and Very Vanilla for the beard. I added a nose cropped from Petal Pink cardstock, then attached the gnome to the card front with dimensionals.

The “Hello” greeting is from the Hello Harvest stamp set and stamped with Mossy Meadow meadow, then cropped with the die from the Stylish Shapes die set and attached to the card front with dimensionals.

For the inside of this card, I used three of the small vines from the Rustic Pumpkin die set cropped from Mossy Meadow cardstock, and glued them to the left edge of a 5 1/4″ x 4″ piece of Very Vanilla cardstock. I layered this onto a 5 3/8″ x 4 1/8″ piece of Mossy Meadow cardstock then attached to the inside of the card.

This card uses a 5 1/4″ x 4″ piece of Sunprints DSP layered onto a card base of Mossy Meadow cardstock that is 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″, scored at 4 1/4.”

I fussy cut a few of the leaves and a small pumpkin from the Rustic Harvest DSP and I again cropped a gnome and mushroom house from the Storybook Gnomes DSP. I attached the mushroom house and pumpkin to the card front, then added the gnome with dimensionals.

I stamped the greeting from the Hello Harvest stamp set with Memento ink and cropped it with the coordinating die, then attached it to the card front with dimensionals. I tucked the leaves I had fussy cut under the greeting and glued them in place.

For the inside of the card, I added a leaf from the Hello Harvest stamp set stamped with Mossy Meadow ink onto the lower-left corner of a 5 1/4″ x 4″ piece of Basic White cardstock, and stamped a sentiment with Memento ink, then attached it to the inside of the card. I also stamped a leaf onto the lower-left corner of the envelope.

The Kindest Gnomes Bundle, the Hello Harvest Bundle, and the coordinating DSPs will be available for purchase beginning in July. Here is a list of the other products I used for these cards:

Red Hot Pokers!

The Wisteria Wishes bundle makes gorgeous wisteria flowers to decorate your cards and projects. I made a couple of cards on my Facebook Live video earlier this week showing how to use the dies or the stamped images to do just that. If you missed the video presentation, you can watch the replay here.

Today, I want to show you another idea for using this set. I remember my mom used to have some of these flowers called Red Hot Pokers in her yard and they were so striking. The bright red color and the tall spikes of flowers just stood out among the other flowers.

You can use the Wisteria Wishes bundle to recreate the look of the Red Hot Pokers for your cards and they are just as striking:

  • Card Base: Real Red – 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″, score at 4 1/4″
  • For the background layer, cut a piece of Basic White at 5 3/8″ x 4 1/8″. Use Smoky Slate ink with the words background stamp from the Quiet Meadow stamp set and stamp several times on the cardstock; be sure to stamp off once or twice before stamping on the cardstock so that the image is very light. Adhere to the card front.
  • Use Garden Green ink to stamp the leaves/stems three times onto a scrap of Basic White cardstock, then crop with the corresponding die. Cut apart one of the sets of stems.
  • Using Pumpkin Pie ink, stamp the triple flower image three times onto a scrap of basic White cardstock. Use Real Red ink and the single flower image to stamp over each of the orange flowers. You may want to stamp over each flower two or three times depending on how deep you want the color. Crop the flowers with the corresponding die. Snip apart one of the sets of flowers.
  • Arrange the flowers and stems onto your card front. For my sample, I glued two of the stems and flowers directly onto the card front up a little higher, then added the other two sets of stems and flowers to the card front with dimensionals a little bit lower than the other flowers. Refer to photo for placement.
  • Stamp the greeting from the Go To Greeting stamp set onto a scrap of Basic White cardstock using Memento ink. Crop with the small die from the Stylish Shapes die set and attach to the card front with dimensionals. Refer to photo for placement.
  • Place a small Matte Black Dot on the upper left corner of the card front.

  • For the inside of the card, layer a piece of Real Red cardstock that has been cut to 5 3/8″ x 4 1/8″.
  • Cut a piece of Basic White cardstock and stamp with a greeting of your choice with Memento ink. For my sample, I used a greeting from the Go To Greetings stamp set.
  • Use Garden Green ink to stamp the two right stems/leaves to the lower left corner. Stamp the flowers as you did for the front using Pumpkin Pie and Real Red ink. Refer to photo for placement.
  • Adhere the completed piece to the inside of the card.

  • Stamp the far right leaves/stem and flowers on the lower left corner of the envelope as you did for the inside of the card.

I’ve listed the products I used for this card below. If you would like to purchase any of them, you can shop with me here. Thank you for your support and happy crafting!
