Tutorial: Anchor of Hope

I have been sending cards out to several of my family members and friends especially during this pandemic where we are all social distancing and are on “lockdown.”  In turn, I have been receiving calls from them telling me how much the card I sent brightened their day, made them smile, and in some cases laugh out loud! Making and mailing a card–such a simple gesture–but oh how appreciated!  Be the reason someone smiles today!

Cut Cardstock:

Assembly:

Use snail to adhere one piece of Balmy Blue cardstock to the card base. Snail the blue/white striped Designer Paper to the card front.

Use snail to adhere the nautical knots Designer Paper to the card front, about 1/2″ from the left side.

Layer the remaining strip of Designer Paper onto the card front, about 1/2″ from the bottom.

Using Night of Navy ink, stamp the greeting from the Sailing Home stamp set onto the 3 1/4″ x 2″ piece of Whisper White cardstock. Crop with the fourth smallest die from the Stitched Nested Labels dies. Attach to the card front with dimensionals. See photo for placement.

Crop the 3″ x 3″ piece of Night of Navy cardstock with the third largest scalloped circle die from the Layering Circles dies.

Stamp the anchor from the Sailing Home stamp set with Night of Navy ink onto the 3″ x 3″ piece of Whisper White cardstock AFTER stamping off once onto a scrap of paper. The anchor image should be slightly tilted and over to the left side just a bit. Crop with the second largest circle from the Stitched Shapes dies, then use snail to attach this piece to the Night of Navy scalloped circle.

Use Night of Navy ink to stamp the anchor onto a scrap of Whisper White cardstock. The ink should be full strength so that the image is a little darker than the other anchor you stamped. Crop with the corresponding die from the Smooth Sailing dies or use your paper snips to fussy cut the anchor.

Thread a piece of the Navy/Sahara Sand Baker’s Twine through the hole at the top of the anchor and loop it over to secure in place.  Use dimensionals to place the anchor over the other stamped anchor so that part of the other anchor shows. See photo for placement.  Use dimensionals to attach this completed piece to the card front. See photo for placement.

Inside:

Snail the remaining piece of Balmy Blue cardstock to the inside of the card.

Use Night of Navy ink to stamp the sentiment from the Positive Thoughts stamp set to the remaining piece of Whisper White cardstock. Stamp the anchor to the lower left corner of this piece using Night of Navy ink, then use snail to attach this piece to the inside of the card.

Envelope:

Use the Night of Navy ink to stamp the anchor to the lower left corner of the envelope.

I hope that you enjoyed making this card and that it will inspire you to create your own designs to make “happy mail” for someone!
