Tutorial: Gold Poinsettia Card

I love the traditional red and green colors of Christmas, but I must say that using gold foil to make the poinsettia on this card really added a big wow factor. And placing the tiny red foil petals on top of the gold really sets off the colors!

Cut Cardstock:
  • Card Base: Whisper White – 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″, score at 4 1/4″
  • First Layer (front) : Gold Foil – 5 3/8″ x 4 1/8″
  • First Layer (inside): Garden Green: 5 3/8″ x 4 1/8″
  • Second Layer (front): Poinsettia Place Designer Series Paper (green with small pine branches) – 5 1/4″ x 4″
  • Second Layer (inside): Whisper White – 5 1/4″ x 4″
  • Poinsettia: Gold Foil – 8″ x 3 1/4″; Red Foil – 2 1/2″ x 1 1/4″
  • Pine Branches: Scraps of Soft Seafoam
  • Greeting Bases: Gold Foil – 4 1/2″ x 1 3/8″;  3 1/4″ x 1 3/8″; 3 1/8″ x 7/8″
  • Poinsettia Place DSP (green with small pinecones) – 3 3/4″ x 1 1/4″;  3 1/8″ x 1 1/4″
  • Greeting: Whisper White – 3″ x 3/4″

Assembly:

Layer the large piece of Gold Foil onto the cards base. (NOTE: If you want to conserve the gold foil, use a rectangular die to cut out the center of this piece and use it for one of the flowers you will be cutting out).

Layer the 5 1/4″ x 4″ piece of Designer Series Paper onto the Gold Foil.

Use Garden Green ink to stamp three small pine brach images onto the scrap of Soft Seafoam cardstock. Crop with the corresponding die. Color the tiny pinecones with the Light Crumb Cake Stampin’ Blends Marker.

Crop the three larger Poinsettia flower petals from Gold Foil, making sure to use the embossing die on the petals to emboss the veins onto the petals. Assemble the Gold Foil petals together with Dimensionals.

Crop two of the tiny poinsettias from Red Foil. Adhere these together with a glue dot, then adhere to the gold foil poinsettia with a glue dot.

Adhere the completed flower to the card front with Dimensionals – refer to photo for placement. Add a large Gilded Gem to the center of the flower.

Adhere the three pine branched to the card front, tucking the ends under the flower using Seal of Glue for two of the branches and Dimensionals for the other one.

Use Real Red ink to stamp the greeting onto the 3″ x 3/4″ strip of Whisper White cardstock. Layer this onto the 3 1/8″ x 7/8″ strip of Gold Foil.

Layer the other two pieces of Designer Paper onto the corresponding Gold Foil pieces. Use Dimensionals to attach them to the card front, the smaller one onto the center of the larger strip – refer to photo for placement.

Use Dimensionals to attach the greeting to the DSP strip.

Add a few Red Rhinestones to the background Designer Paper to add a touch of color to the green background.

Inside:

Stamp the sentiment onto the remaining piece of Whisper White cardstock using Real Red ink.

Use Garden Green ink to stamp two pine branches to the upper right corner of this piece. Color the tiny pinecones with the Light Crumb Cake Stampin’ Blends Marker.

Adhere this piece to the remaining piece of Garden Green cardstock, then adhere it to the inside of the card.

Envelope:

For the envelope, stamp two pine branches onto the lower left corner of the envelope using Garden Green ink. Color the pinecones with Light Crumb Cake Stampin’ Blends Marker.
