I used the Perched In A Tree bundle to create a couple of Christmas cards on my Facebook Live video this week. If you missed it, you can watch the replay here. Here’s another idea using this bundle that makes a beautiful Christmas card — or you can switch the greeting for a winter birthday card. The bird and branch are colored the same way as I demonstrated in my video, if you need a refresher.
Here are the cardstock requirements for this card:
- Card Base: Balmy Blue – 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″ score at 4 1/4″
- First Layer: Storybook Gnomes Designer Series Paper (snowflake pattern)- 5 1/4″ x 4″
- Second Layer: Silver Foil 5 1/4″ x 4″, cropped with the Aspen Tree Die
- Bird, Branch & Greeting: Scraps of Basic White
- Leaf: Scrap of Silver Foil
- Inside Layer: Basic White – 5 1/4″ x 4″
- Strip for Inside Layer: Storybook Gnomes DSP 4″ x 1/2″
Directions:
- Adhere the silver cropped trees to the snowflake designer paper, then adhere to the card front.
- Use Versamark ink to stamp a bird and the branch on a scrap of basic white cardstock. Sprinkle with Silver Embossing Powder and set with the heat tool. Crop with the corresponding dies.
- Use a Waterpainter and Balmy Blue ink to add a very pale color to the bird. Refer to the Facebook Live video if you need to see how this is done.
- Use Versamark to stamp the greeting from the Mistletoe Magic stamp set onto a 3/4″ strip of basic white cardstock. Sprinkle with Silver embossing Powder and heat set. Trim the ends of the strip as desired.
- Attach the branch, bird, silver leaf, and greeting to the front of the card using dimensionals. Refer to photo for placement.
- For the inside, piece of basic white cardstock, stamp the sentiment from the Perched In A Tree stamp set with Versamark and emboss with Silver like you did for the greeting, bird, and branch.
- Add the strip of DSP to the top of this piece, then adhere to the inside of the card.
As I mentioned before, just switch the greeting and sentiment to turn this into an elegant winter birthday card.
