I’m so happy to be able to do Facebook Live videos again! There have been so many new products being introduced through the new catalog as well as online exclusives. I wanted to try something a little different here and introduce a very simple card sketch, making several cards using some of the pretty new Designer Series Papers that are currently out. I hope to introduce a new sketch every week and show how to use it to create many cards. Hopefully, you will be able to see this as a tool to design your own cards with the supplies you have on hand. Of course, you’re always welcome to CASE (Copy And Share Everything) any of my designs. For that reason, I’ve included the product list of everything I’ve used to make these cards.
The basic card sketch is below. It is made on the average A-2 size card front (5 1/2″ x 4 1/4″). Once you have the basic layers, you can add any focal point you like or simply a label with a greeting. My focal points for these cards include either stamped images, a DSP image which was fussy cut, or greetings on various labels.
Here are the measurements for the base and layers of each card:
- Card Base: 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″, score at 4 1/4″
- First Layer: 5 1/4″ x 4″
- DSP Matt Layers: Cut two different patterns DSP at 4 ” x 3″
- Focal Point/ Scraps of Basic White or whatever you’re using as your point of interest
Note that on my card with the little frog, I actually added one more layer of Basic White at 5 3/8″ x 4 1/8″ under the 5 1/4″ x 4″ layer. This is an option if you feel that your colors need that extra little pop of white between your colored layers.
Join me next Tuesday at for another card sketch and ways to use it.
Here’s the list of all the products I used to create my three cards. If you would like to purchase any of them, you can shop with me here. As always, thank you for your support!
