This was a bit of a crazy week for me, so I wasn’t able to do a series of cards using a single card sketch. However, I was able to show another easy fun-fold card in which I used the Wildflower Designs bundle and an old technique called Paper Tole, which I used with the Flowering Zinnia DSP. If you weren’t able to watch the presentation live, you can watch the replay here.
The small floral images from the Wildflower Designs work well with this fun-fold since you need small images for the 1 1/2″ squares. The opened card gives you a nice effect of the images as well.
Here are the measurements of the cardstock needed for the fun-fold card:
- Card Base: Wild Wheat 7 3/4″ x 5 1/2″, score at 4 1/4″ and 2 1/2″
- Front Left Panel: Moody Mauve: 5 3/8″ x 2 3/8″
- DSP Layer: Wildly Flowering DSP – 5 1/4″ x2 1/4″
- Small Mats for Flowers: Moody Mauve – 1 5/8″ x 1 5/8″ and Basic White 1 1/2″ x 1 1/2″ (embossed with Distressed Tile EF)
- Flowers: Scraps of Basic White
- Inside First Layer: Moody Mauve – 5 3/8″ x 4 1/8″
- Inside Second Layer: Basic White – 5 1/4″ x 4″
This card borrows from an old craft called Paper Tole, where you cut the same image multiple times and create layers with the cut images. Sometimes the exact image would be cut several times; other times, people would make each successive layer a little smaller, which is what I did for this card. You can see how I cut the flower from the DSP four times, the bottom layer including the leaves, and the three remaining layers just slightly smaller:
Here are the cardstock requirements to make this card:
- Card Base: Basic White – 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″
- First Layer: Flowering Zinnias DSP – 5 3/8″ x 4 1/8″
- Second Layer: Lemon Lime Twist – 4 3/8″ x 3 1/8″
- Third Layer: Flowering Zinnias DSP – 4 1/4″ x 3″
- Flower: Flowering Zinnias DSP
- Greeting: Basic White – 5/8″ x 3″ strips, cut two
- Inside First Layer: Melon Mambo – 5 3/8″ x 4 1/8″
- Inside Second Layer: Basic White – 5 1/4″ x 4″
- Inside Strips: Lemon Lime Twist – 5/8″ x 4″ and Flowering Zinnias DSP 1/2″ x 4″
