FB Live Recap: Coloring with Watercolor Pencils

On this week’s video, I showed the technique that I use for using Watercolor Pencils. The Nature’s Painting Kit is a perfect kit if you love to watercolor, if you’ve NEVER watercolored, or if you’d like to try watercolor! The kit comes with eight watercolor pencils, a water-painter, and 24 pre-printed designs – 2 each of 12 different designs – for you to color and use for your card-making projects.

The way I prefer to use the pencils is to lay down all of the colors on your design and then use the water painter to blend the colors, and this is the technique I showed in the video. This is my preference as I find it easier to blend the colors. Some people prefer to use one color, let it dry, lay down the next color, let it dry, and then continue with the next color. I would encourage you to try this technique as well as the one I showed you, and decide for yourself which method you prefer. You can view the video here if you missed the live presentation.

Here are some of the designs that I’ve colored and made into cards:

Here are a few others that I’ve colored and will be using to make more cards.

In addition to the watercolor pencils that are in the kit, Stampin’Up! also offers 2 other sets of watercolor pencils that can be used to color the designs. Remember that you must use Watercolor Pencils with the waterpainter – regular colored pencils will not work.

I’ve listed the order number for the Nature’s Painting kit below, as well as the other sets of watercolor pencils and extra water painters just in case you want to purchase more. Please remember that for any purchase you make with me as your demonstrator I will send you a free gift – you can shop with me here.
