FB Live Recap: Thankful Garden Masking Techniques

 

The Thankful Garden bundle, which is an online exclusive, has a set of five masks that coordinate with the stamp set and dies. The masks are a quick way to color the beautiful large flower images with either blending brushes or sponge daubers. For this week’s video, I demonstrated just how easy both techniques are to use. For this card, I stamped the flower image twice using Smoky Slate ink, then colored one with Highland Heather and Gorgeous Grape and the second one with Petunia Pop. I used the blending brushes to color the images before cropping them with the coordinating die.

 

 

For the inside, I added some decorative strips at the top of the card and stamped a sentiment from the Year of Flowers stamp set

 

The cardstock used for this card is:

• Card Base: Gorgeous Grape – 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″, score at 4 1/4″
• First Layer: Pretty in Pink – 5 3/8″ x 4 1/8″
• Second Layer: Lovely Garden DSP – 5 1/4″ x 4″
• Flowers: Basic White – 5″ x 4″, cut two
• Inside First Layer: Pretty in Pink – 5 3/8″ x 4 1/8″
• Inside Second Layer: Basic White – 5 1/4″ x 4″
• Inside Decorative Strips: Pretty in Pink – 4″ x 5/8″ and Lovely Garden DSP – 4″ x 1/2″

 

 

For this card, I used sponge daubers with the masks to color the flowers. In the video, I explain how to make extra small flowers using another of the dies from this set.

 

The cardstock used for this card:

• Card Base: Garden Green – 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″, score at 4 1/4″
• First Layer: Daffodil Delight – 5 3/8″ x 4 1/8″
• Second Layer: Lovely Garden DSP – 5 1/4″ x 4″
• Third Layer: Very Vanilla – 5 1/4″ x 4″, embossed with the Exposed Brick folder, then cropped with the Deckled Rectangles die
• Flowers: Scraps of Basic White
• Leaves: Scraps of Garden Green
• Greeting: Very Vanilla – 3″ x 1 1/2″

 

 

For the greeting and the inside sentiment for this card, I again used sentiments from the Year of Flowers stamp set.
