Hydrangeas are such happy looking flowers! Big colorful blooms made up of what looks like hundreds of tiny flowers. I love how they brighten up any space in the garden.
To make this card, I pulled out my retired stamp set called Hydrangea Haven. There is also a larger hydrangea image in the Thankful Garden bundle that could be used for this card.
The card base is Blueberry Bushel 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″ scored at 4 1/4″.
For the first layer, I stamped a 5 1/4″ x 4″ piece of Basic Beige cardstock with the tiny flower image using Crumb Cake ink. Then I embossed it with the retired Ornate Floral embossing folder before adhering it to the card base. An alternative folder to use would be the new Stone and Ivy 3D embossing folder.
Using the Stylish Shapes dies, I cut two square frames from Balmy Blue cardstock, using the two largest and the next two sizes of dies, then adhered them to the card front. Refer to photo below for placement.

I stamped three hydrangea images with Blueberry Bushel ink and one with Melon Mambo ink. I used Light and Dark Balmy Blue Stampin’ Blends to color the blue flowers and Light and Dark Strawberry Slush to color the pink flower. I stamped several leaves using Shaded Spruce ink and colored them with Light Granny Apple Green and Light Shaded Spruce. I cut the stems off the flowers before arranging them onto the card front and attaching them with dimensionals. I tucked the leaves slightly under the flowers and glued them in place.
The butterfly is from the retired Papillon Potpourri stamp set, colored with Light Lemon Lolly and Light Peach Pie Blends. There are several current stamp sets that have butterflies which could be used instead. I added some Wink of Stella to the butterfly wings to make them glimmer, then adhered it to the card front with a dimensional.
I stamped the greeting from the Delicate Whispers stamp set using Blueberry Bushel ink onto a 1/4″ strip of Basic Beige cardstock, flagged one end and attached it with a dimensional slightly tucking one end under the flowers.
For the inside, added another cropped and colored leaf to the upper right corner of a 5 1/4″ x 4″ piece of Basic Beige cardstock and used Blueberry Bushel to stamp a sentiment. The sentiment I chose comes from the Charming Duck Pond stamp set.
