FB Live Recap: Rustic Crate for Autumn

On this week’s Facebook Live video, I showed two cards I made with the Rustic Crate bundle. I also showed how to use the die in the set that might be a little confusing to some (it was to me!). Looking at it, I thought that it made a little 3D crate. In reality, it creates a little “pocket” that is just the right size to hold the pumpkins, poinsettia, or greenery stamped images. I love the little accent pieces for the crate and especially how it looks with the Distressed Gold paper.

You can view the video here if you missed the live presentation.

For the “Warm Wishes” card you will need the following cardstock:

  • Card Base: Very Vanilla – 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2 score at 4 1/4″
  • First Layer: Pumpkin Pie – 5 1/4″ x 4″, cut two
  • Second Layer (front): All About Autumn DSP – 5 1/8″ x 3 7/8″
  • Second Layer (inside): Very Vanilla – 5 1/8″ x 3 7/8″

  • Crate Accents: Scraps of Distressed Gold Paper
  • Pumpkin Arrangement, Greeting, Glove Cuffs: Scraps of Very Vanilla
  • Gloves: Scrap of Wild Wheat
  • Leaves: Scraps of Pumpkin Pie and All About Autumn DSP

Here are the cardstock measurements for the “Hello” card:

  • Card Base: Copper Clay – 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″, score at 4 1/4″

Autumn Leaves Fractured Card

The Fractured Card technique seems to be all the rage right now, so I thought I’d give it a little twist using the All About Autumn Designer Series Paper. I love the fall season and the beautiful colors that go with it, so using this DSP is a no-brainer.

I used Cajun Craze cardstock for the card base (8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″) and 1/2″ strips on the front of the card.

I placed a layer of Very Vanilla (5 3/8″ x 4 1/8″) on top of the card base, followed by another layer of Cajun Craze (5 1/4″ x 4″), on which the DSP cardstock strips and focal point are placed.

I chose two different leaf designs from the All About Autumn DSP for the background corners.

The center is Very Vanilla cropped with one of the square dies from the Stylish Shapes die set.

For the leaves, I chose two different All About Autumn papers and Gold Foil, all cropped with the leaf dies from the Autumn Leaves dies.

I finished the front with the Natural Wavy Trim and some Bushed Metallic Adhesive Backed Dots.

For the inside, I stamped the sentiment using Cajun Craze ink on a piece of 5 3/8″ x 4 1/8″ Very Vanilla cardstock.

I placed a strip border near the top using a 5/8″ strip of Cajun Craze and a coordinating 1/2″ strip of All About Autumn DSP.

Just for some added interest, I adhered a leaf cropped from Distressed Gold paper.

If you’d like to recreate this card, the products I used are listed below.

Cheerful Daisies/Earthen Texture Fusion

Two of my favorite bundles are Earthen Textures and Cheerful Daisies. Each of these sets is gorgeous and fun to work with, but I decided to combine elements from both sets to create this design. I also love the look of the Cane Weave 3D embossing folder as the background for the flowers and vases.

If you’d like to recreate this card, here are the simple directions:

  • The card base is Misty Moonlight, cut at 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″, scored at 4 1/4″.
  • Emboss a 5 1/4″ x 4″ piece of Basic White cardstock with the Cane Weave 3D embossing folder, then adhere it to a 5 3/8″ x 4 1/8″ piece of Basic White cardstock. This will add a nice white frame around the embossed piece as well as give it a bit more strength. Adhere to the card base.
  • For the vases, using dies from the Earthen Textures bundle, crop a large and small vase from scraps of Countryside Inn Designer Series Paper. Use the small handled die to crop a different scrap of Countryside Inn DSP.
  • Crop three bunches of stems from Misty Moonlight cardstock.
  • Crop the little open-work shelf from a scrap of Night of Navy cardstock.
  • Stamp the small flower cluster, one medium daisy outline, two half daisy outlines and the flower centers from the Cheerful Daisies bundle using Blueberry Bushel ink. Use Balmy Blue ink and the solid flower stamps to apply color to the daisy outlines. Crop all flowers with the corresponding dies.

(Refer to the photo for placement of all cropped pieces.)

  • To build the design, glue the tall vase and the three bunches of stems to the left side of the card front.
  • Attach the small vase to the card front with dimensionals. Make sure you leave enough room for the flowers and shelf that go on the right side of the card. Attach the medium daisy and one half-daisy above the small vase using dimensionals. Adhere the second half-daisy with glue, sliding it slightly under the other two daisies.
  • Glue the open-work shelf to the card front.
  • Glue the handled short vase and the bunch of small flowers to the card front above the shelf.

  • Stamp the greeting from the Go To Greetings stamp set onto a scrap of Basic White cardstock using Blueberry Bushel ink and crop with the small flag die from the Nested Essentials die set. Attach to the card front with dimensionals.
  • For the envelope, stamp the small flower cluster to the lower left corner of the envelope using Blueberry Bushel ink.

Check my Pinterest page for more inspiration using these and other stamp sets. If you haven’t signed up to receive my emails, you can do that on the right side of my blog. I promise I won’t spam your inbox, but I do send out ideas and tutorials exclusive to my email list.
