“These Little Piggies” Tutorial Series: Happy Piggy

The ‘This Little Piggy’ stamp set lends itself well to making a set of notecards. There are four little pigs in different poses, as well as several sentiments that can also be used. The notecards are the perfect size for those times when you want to send a quick note to someone – or to make a set, tie a pretty ribbon around them, and you have a sweet little hostess gift or ‘just because’ present for someone special.

Here is one of the cards I designed using the little pig holding the flower. You can’t help but smile when you see this little pig!

Cut Cardstock:

Assembly:

Using the daisy stamp from the ‘In Every Season’ stamp set and Balmy Blue ink, stamp off on a piece of scrap paper, then randomly stamp on one piece of the Balmy Blue cardstock to create interest on the background piece. Remember to re-ink and stamp off each time you stamp on the cardstock. You want this daisy to be a faint background and not detract from the focal piece! Snail this piece onto the card front.

The stamp of pig holding the flower from the ‘This Little Piggy’ stamp set has a phrase on it – but for this card, I didn’t want it. I only wanted the image of the pig. In order to ink the image so that ink doesn’t get on the phrase and therefore will not transfer onto your paper, take a piece of cellophane tape and tape over the phrase.

Ink the stamp with the tape on it as you normally would, then pull the tape off before you stamp the image onto the 3 1/4″ x 2 1/2″ piece of Whisper White cardstock. Using the small cloud from the ‘This Little Piggy’ stamp set and Balmy Blue inkstamp three clouds above the pig.

Using Water Color Pencils and a Blender Pen, gently color the stamped image.  I used Calypso Coral for the pig, Bermuda Bay for the sky, and Old Olive for the grass. I colored the flower with the Daffodil Delight and Pumpkin Pie pencils at full strength and the hooves with the Basic Gray pencil at full strength. I prefer a more pastel look to the design, but if you like the colors darker that is your choice.

Snail the stamped image onto the Daffodil Delight cardstock, then snail to the card front slightly askew. Refer to photo for placement.

Cut a small heart shape from the ‘Be Mine Stitched Framelits’, using Melon Mambo cardstock, then use a dimensional to adhere to the card front, overlapping the stamped image slightly.

Inside: Snail the remaining piece of Balmy Blue cardstock to the inside of the notecard, then snail the Whisper White piece inside as well. Use one of your favorite sentiment stamps if desired or leave blank to write your own message.

Hope you enjoy making this notecard!
