The Faux Silk technique lends itself very well to any ‘solid’ type stamps and the Beautiful Friendship stamp set is perfect for this. If you’ve never tried the Faux Silk technique, it is a very simple way to help create an elegant card. If you’ve done this before and you’re like me, you’ve probably put it aside as a technique and always forget to bring it out again! ‘Solid’ stamps, rather than outlines, are perfect for this technique and the Beautiful Friendship stamp set has several different stamps that are great for this purpose.

Assembly:
Snail one piece of the 5 3/8″ x 4 1/8″ Seaside Spray cardstock to the card front.
Emboss one piece of 5 1/8″ x 3 7/8″ Whisper White cardstock with the Basket Weave embossing folder and snail to the card front. Emboss the 4″x3″ piece of Whisper White cardstock with the Country Floral embossing folder and snail to the card front, about 3/8″ from the top of the card.
Stamp the design onto the 3 3/4″ x 2 3/4″ piece of Whisper White cardstock, referring to the photo for placement of images. Use Seaside Spray ink to stamp the larger double flower image from the Beautiful Friendship stamp set. Use Highland Heather ink to stamp the long flower spray twice. Use Pear Pizzazz ink to stamp the double and triple leaf images coming off of the blue flowers.
For the Faux Silk technique, take the piece of tissue paper and crumple it up into a tight ball and set aside.
Spread a thin layer of multipurpose glue over the entire stamped piece, thinning the glue with a little water if necessary. Open the crumpled tissue paper and press it onto the glued stamped piece, being careful not to smooth out all of the wrinkles. The uneven wrinkles in the tissue paper are what makes it look like cloth. Fold the edges of the tissue to the back of the cardstock and glue or snail in place, or simply use your paper snips to trim off the excess tissue paper. Snail this piece onto the 4″ x 3″ piece of Seaside Spray cardstock.
Tie a piece of Whisper White Baker’s Twine around the stamped piece, then use dimensionals to attach it to the card front. Refer to the photo for placement.
Inside:
Snail the remaining piece of Seaside Spray cardstock to the inside of the card.
Use Seaside Spray ink to stamp the smaller single flower image from the Beautiful Friendship stamp set to the lower left corner of the remaining piece of Whisper White cardstock.
Use Highland Heather ink to stamp the long flower spray twice.
Use Pear Pizzazz ink and the double leaf stamp to stamp several leaves around the bottom part of the flower.
Use Seaside Spray ink to stamp the Birthday greeting from the Beautiful Friendship stamp set.
Snail the strip of Seaside Spray cardstock to the top of the stamped piece, Tie a piece of Whisper White Baker’s Twine around the strip, then snail the completed piece to the inside of the card.
Envelope:
Use Seaside Spray ink to stamp the smaller single flower image to the lower left corner of the envelope. Use Pear Pizzazz ink to stamp the double leaf image around the flower.
If this is the first time you have tried the Faux Silk technique, I hope you enjoyed it!
