Tutorial: Spooky Halloween Night

Sponge a spooky dark blue and purple sky to give this card a haunted Halloween night look!

Cut Cardstock:

Assembly:

Adhere one piece of Pumpkin Pie cardstock to card base with snail.

Use the 1 1/2″ circle punch to punch out a circle from a piece of scrap Very Vanilla cardstock. Punch a small piece out of this circle to form a ‘crescent moon’ shape – this will be the mask to make a moon on the card front.

Use a sponge to apply Daffodil Delight ink to one piece of Very Vanilla cardstock slightly above the center, about the size of the ‘moon mask’.  Quick Tip: Cut the sponge in two or three pieces and use a smaller piece for each color of ink.

Use a sponge to blend a little Crushed Curry ink onto the Daffodil Delight area.

Hold  the ‘crescent moon’ mask on top of the sponged yellow area, then sponge Night of Navy ink onto the cardstock to make the dark sky. Use a sponge to blend a little Blackberry Bliss ink onto the sky. Remove the mask to reveal the crescent moon against the dark sky.

Tear a scrap of Very Vanilla cardstock to make a mask for the ‘ground’ area and hold near the bottom of the sponged cardstock.  Sponge Early Espresso ink to the bottom to make the ‘ground’. Remove the mask to reveal the ground against the dark sky.

Use Versamark to stamp the raven from ‘The Raven’ stamp set onto the sponged piece, sprinkle Black Emboss powder on the image, and set with heat tool.

Use Versamark ink to stamp the leaf spray from the ‘Very Versailles’ stamp set to the sponged cardstock, sprinkle with Silver Emboss powder and set with heat tool.  The leaves should partially cover the moon and the ground. Refer to photo for placement of leaves and raven.

Using Memento ink, stamp the Halloween greeting from ‘The Raven’ stamp set onto the upper right corner of the cardstock, then snail the completed piece to the card front.

Inside:

Snail the remaining piece of Pumpkin Pie cardstock to the inside of the card.

Use Memento ink to stamp the sentiment from ‘The Raven’ stamp set to the remaining piece of Very Vanilla cardstock. Use Memento ink to stamp the feather from ‘The Raven’ stamp set to the upper left corner on this piece.  Snail completed piece to the inside of the card.

Envelope:

Use Memento ink to stamp the feather from ‘The Raven’ stamp set to the lower left corner of the envelope.

I hope you enjoy making this fun card. Sponging the cardstock for the sky is a great way to make ‘spooky’ backgrounds for your Halloween cards!
