Watercolored Hydrangea Haven

Last week on my Facebook Live video I created three cards with the Hydrangea Haven bundle and coordinating DSP. This set is so pretty and I just love using it! This is one of those sets that I would highly recommend purchasing if you don’t already have it. The images are beautiful, and when combined with the lovely Hydrangea Hill Designer Paper, you will easily make gorgeous cards.

Here is another card I created using gold embossing and watercoloring the flowers and leaves. And you know I LOVE the new Pastel Pearls, so of course, I added some to this card!

Cut Cardstock:
  • Card Base: Basic White – 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″, score at 4 1/4″
  • First Layer: Gorgeous Grape – 5 3/8″ x 4 1/8″, cut two
  • Second Layer (front): Hydrangea Hill DSP – 5 1/4″ x 4″;  For Inside: – Basic White – 5 1/4″ x 4″
  • Third Layer: Gorgeous Grape – 3 3/8″ x 3 3/8
  • Stamped Layer: Basis White – 3 1/4″ x 3 1/4″
  • Decorative Flags: Hydrangea Hill DSP – 1″ x 1/2″; Gorgeous Grape – 3/4″ x 1 1/4″
  • Inside Bottom Strips: Gorgeous Grape – 4 1/8″ x 1 1/4″; Hydrangea Hill DSP – 4″ x 1″

Assembly:

Adhere one 5 3/8″ x 4 1/8″ piece of Gorgeous Grape cardstock to the card front, then layer the large piece Hydrangea Hill DSP (small flowers) on top.

Use Versamark to stamp the flower image onto the 3 1/4″ square piece of Basic White cardstock, sprinkle with gold embossing powder, and set with heat tool.

Color the leaves and stem with Old Olive ink using a Blender Pen or Water Painter brush. Color the flower using Highland Heather ink, then add touches of Gorgeous Grape and Misty Moonlight ink. Since this is cardstock and not watercolor paper, remember to go lightly with the watercoloring so the cardstock doesn’t degrade! I place a little of the ink on an acrylic block and pick up the color from there with the Water Painter brush. Adhere this to the 3 3/8″ square piece of Gorgeous Grape cardstock, then attach to card front with dimensionals.

Flag one end of the Gorgeous Grape and Hydrangea Hill DSP strips and use seal or glue to attach to the card front, tucking ends under the stamped image piece. Refer to photo for placement.

Tie a small bow with the Gorgeous grape ribbon and attach it to the card front over the stem with a couple of small glue dots.

Inside:

Adhere the remaining large piece of Gorgeous Grape cardstock to the inside of the card.

Use Gorgeous Grape ink to stamp a sentiment onto the remaining piece of Basic White cardstock. I used a sentiment from the Peaceful Moments stamp set.

Use Versamark to stamp the small flower image onto the upper right corner of this piece, sprinkle with gold embossing powder, and set with heat tool. Watercolor the flowers as you did for the flowers on the card front. Adhere the completed piece to the inside of the card.

Adhere the gorgeous Grape and DSP strips to the bottom of the inside of the card.

Envelope:

Stamp the small flower image using Versamark to the lower-left corner of the envelope, sprinkle with gold embossing powder, and set with heat tool. Watercolor the flowers as you did for the inside.

FB Live Recap: Friendly Flamingos

For my Facebook Live video this week, I pulled out the Friendly Flamingo Bundle again and created a birthday card and thank-you card. I wanted to use the Flower and Field DSP that is a free item during Sale-a-bration and I thought the flamingos were a perfect focal point.

I did have a little help designing the projects from our new puppy, Bentley. He just turned 9 weeks old and as puppies do, demands a lot of attention.

Just a reminder, Sale-a-bration continues through the end of February. You can earn free products with either a $50 or $100 purchase! Purchases can be from the large annual catalog, the January-June mini-catalog, the online clearance rack, or any combination of those. View the Sale-a-bration brochure here.

For the Birthday card you will need the following cardstock:

  • Card Base: Flirty Flamingo – 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″, score at 4 1/4″
  • First Layer: Basic White – 5 3/8″ x 4 1/8″, cut two
  • Second Layer: Flower and Field Designer Series Paper – 5 1/4″ x 4″
  • Ornate Frame: Basic White – 3 3/4″ x 2 1/4″
  • Flower and Greeting: Scraps of Basic White
  • Flamingo: Love You Always Foil Sheets Rococo Rase – 3 1/2″ x 2 1/4″
  • Inside Strip: Flower and Field – 4″ x 1/2″

For the Thank-you Card, the following cardstock is needed:

  • First layer: Flirty Flamingo – 5 3/8″ x 4 1/8″, cut two

FB Live Recap: Flamingo Hello

For my Facebook Live video this week, I had every intention of showing you several projects with the new Friendly Flamingo bundle – however, as we all know, sometimes life gets in the way of good intentions!

At least this time, what “got in the way” of my preparing projects this week was my belated Christmas present, this sweet little bundle of fur! We named him Bentley – he just turned eight weeks old, weighs 2 pounds, and he is such a joy!

That being said, I did manage to get one project done, combining the Friendly Flamingo bundle and the Timeless Tropical stamp set. This bright and cheery card was designed to send just to keep in touch with someone, but it could easily be made into a birthday card as well – just switch the greeting and sentiment.

To make this card you will need the following cardstock pieces:

  • Card Base: Basic White 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″, score at 4 1/4″
  • First Layer: Pool Party – 5 3/8″ x 4 1/8′, cut two
  • Embossed Layer: Pool Party – 5 1/4″ x 4″
  • Leaves and Vines: Scraps of Granny Apple Green
  • Flamingo, Flowers, and Greeting: Scraps of basic White
  • Inside Layer: Basic White – 5 1/5″ x 4″

The products I used for this card are listed below. If you would like to purchase any of them you can shop with me here.

Darling Donkey Valentine

This week on my Facebook Live video, I used the free Darling Donkeys stamp set to make three very different cards, including a Valentine and a fun-fold card.  It’s such a cute stamp set that I couldn’t resist making another Valentine card with it!

To be honest, I usually don’t send many Valentine’s cards, but with everyone still pretty much staying at home due to the pandemic, I will be sending out more Valentines this year.

With Sale-a-bration in full swing now, the Darling Donkeys stamp set is one of the free products that you can choose to receive with any $50 order. Who can resist these cuties?

If you missed the cards I made on my video, you can watch the replay here.

Besides the Free Darling Donkey stamp set, I also used the free Oh So Ombre Designer Paper to create this card – it is Oh So Pretty! I love how the pretty paper sets off the simple heart designs. Here’s the card – I hope you like it!

Cut Cardstock:
  • Card Base: Magenta Madness – 8 1/2″ x5 1/2″, score at 4 1/4″
  • First Layer: Basic White – 5 3/8″ x 4 1/8″, cut two
  • Second Layer: Oh So Ombre (Rococo Rose) – 5 1/4″ x 2 3/4″ cut one each of the solid and printed
  • Scalloped Hearts: Love you Always Foil Sheets (Rococo Rose) – 5 ” x 2 1/4″
  • Donkey and Greeting: Scraps of Basic White

Assembly:

Layer the two pieces of Oh So Ombre DSP side by side onto one 5 3/8″ x 4 1/8″ piece of Basic White cardstock. Attach a length of Blushing Bride Shimmer Ribbon to this piece, covering the seam where the DSP meets.

Punch out two hearts from the Rococo Rose Foil sheet using the scalloped heart punch.

Using Memento ink, stamp the sitting donkey onto a scrap of Basic White cardstock. Use Magenta Madness ink to stamp the tiny heart from the Heartfelt stamp set under the donkey’s ear. Color the donkey with Smoky Slate and Petal Pink Stampin’ Blends markers. Stamp the heart outline, greeting, and tiny heart from the Heartfelt stamp set onto a scrap of Basic White cardstock using Magenta Madness ink. Use the heart punch to punch out the donkey’s head and the heart.

Layer the cardstock with the DSP and ribbon onto the card base. Use dimensionals to attach the stamped hearts onto the foil hearts, then use dimensionals to attach these to the center of the card front. Refer to photo for placement. Note- if you prefer to have the stamped hearts flat onto the foil hearts, use multipurpose glue to attach them as any tape runner adhesive usually doesn’t stick well onto foil.

Inside:

For the inside of the card, stamp the sentiment from the Meant To Be stamp set and the tiny hearts from the Heartfelt stamp set onto the remaining piece of Basic White cardstock using Magenta Madness ink. Attach the completed piece to the inside of the card.

Envelope:

Use magenta Madness ink to stamp a couple of tiny hearts to the lower-left corner of the envelope.

These are the products I used to make this card. If you need these or any other items, you can shop with me here.

Seashell “Frame” Card

There are several seashell images and lovely sentiments in the Friends Are Like Seashells bundle that can be used for your project designs. Using the stamped images on the pearlescent paper really makes the shells look like the real thing! The coordinating dies also have embossing lines in them, which also help to make the shells look real. For this card, I also made a “frame” out of Designer Paper using the Stitched Rectangles dies and layered the seashells on the frame.

Cut Cardstock:
  • Card Base: Coastal Cabana – 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″, score at 4 1/4″
  • First Layer: Soft Seafoam – 5 3/8″ x 4 1/8″, cut two
  • Inside Layer: Whisper White – 5 1/4″ x 4″ plus scrap for sentiment
  • Seaweed Layer: Whisper White – 3 5/8″ x 2 1/4″
  • “Frame”: Oh So Ombre Designer Paper – 4 1/4″ x 3″
  • Seashells: Scraps of Pearlescent Paper
  • Greeting: Scrap of Whisper White cardstock

Assembly:

Emboss one piece of the Soft Seafoam cardstock with the Seabed 3D Embossing Folder and adhere to the card base.

Stamp several images of the seaweed plants from the Friends Are Like Seashell stamp set onto the 3 5/8″ x 2 1/4″ piece of Whisper White cardstock using Granny Apple Green ink.  Refer to photo for placement. Adhere this to the center of the card front.

Make a “frame” from the Bermuda Bay Oh So Ombre Designer Paper by using the third and fifth largest dies from the Stitched Rectangle dies. Use dimensionals to adhere to the card front so that it covers the edges of the stamped layer.

Stamp the following images onto the Pearlescent Paper: the sand dollar using Smoky Slate ink, the starfish using Cinnamon Cider Ink, the large shell using Cinnamon Cider ink stamped off once, the medium shell using Highland Heather ink, and the small shell using Flirty Flamingo ink.

Crop each shell with the coordinating die. Arrange the shells, starfish, and sand dollar onto the lower edge of the DSP “frame” and glue in place, using dimensionals as necessary for any edges that come off of the frame. Refer to photo for placement. Place a medium pearl on the two smaller shells and sand dollar, a a few on the ‘frame’.

Use Cinnamon Cider ink to stamp the greetings from the Messages stamp set onto a piece of Whisper White cardstock and crop with the coordinating die. (You will have several greetings/sentiments left to use on other projects.) Use dimensionals and glue to attach the greeting to the card front. Refer to photo for placement. Place a few small pearls on the shells and frame.

Inside:

Adhere the remaining piece of Soft Seafoam cardstock to the inside of the card. Use Flirty Flamingo and Highland Heather ink to stamp the medium and small shell to the lower left corner of the remaining piece of Whisper White cardstock. Use Granny Apple Green ink to stamp the seaweed next to the shells. Adhere to the inside of the card.

Glue the sentiment that was stamped and cropped earlier for the inside of the card. Refer to photo.

For the envelope,  use Granny Apple Green ink to stamp the seaweed and Flirty Flamingo ink to stamp the small seashell onto the lower left corner of the envelope.

I hope you like this card. Try using different shades of cardstock and ink for a totally different look!

Here is a list of the products I used to create this card. If you would like to purchase any of them, you can shop with me here.

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year! While the past year did have a few high points, I, like many other people, am happy to see 2020 go. What a year it was!

Thankfully, and hopefully, 2021 is here, and with it, a reset for the decade – a whole new list of possibilities, hopes, and dreams. Having recently watched the movie Lion King,  I will borrow a phrase from some of the characters, “You’ve gotta put your past behind you”! So, let’s get on with 2021.

January always brings many new things to the Stampin’Up! world and this year is no exception – new catalogs, new products, new promotions, new ideas. I’m really looking forward to sharing all of this with you in the coming days, weeks, and months!

I hope you will continue to follow me in my Facebook Group and Pinterest and also sign up for my email list which you can do here on my website. My plan is to keep sharing project ideas with you as well as the latest information on products and promotions from Stampin’Up!  I will also continue to make weekly Facebook Live videos demonstrating projects and techniques for you. You will find my videos on my Facebook Group, Friends Who Like Time4Stamping.

Here are just a few of the cards I have designed with products from the new mini-catalog. If you are not currently working with a demonstrator and plan to order from the new catalog, I would be happy to send you a catalog if you need one – just private message or email me.

Whatever your hopes are for this year, I sincerely hope that they are realized for you!
