From ‘How’ to ‘Wow’ #3: Beautiful Rococo Rose

Take this simple card sketch and turn it into a beautiful card that’s sure to please the person who receives it!

Notice on this sketch I replaced the center “layer” with the stamped rose as the focal point. I also added more layers with the coordinating color to give it a more finished look.

Cut Cardstock:
  • Card Base: Very Vanilla – 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″ , score at 4 1/2″
  • Second Layer: Rococo Rose – 5 3/8″ x 4 1/8″, cut two
  • Third Layer: Very Vanilla – 5 1/4″ x 4″, cut two
  • Focal Point:
  • Decorative Strip: Rococo Rose – strip 5 1/4″ x 1″

Assembly:

Use the Subtle embossing folder to emboss one 5 1/4″ x 4″ piece of Very Vanilla cardstock, then snail to a 5 3/8″ x 4 1/8″ piece of Rococo Rose cardstock. Snail to the card front.

Using the die from the Delicate Lace Edgelits, crop the strip of Rococo Rose cardstock and snail to the card front approximately 1/2″ from the bottom.

Using Rococo Rose ink, stamp the large rose from the Healing Hugs stamp set to the 3 1/2″ x 2 3/4″ piece of Very Vanilla cardstock. Add some shimmer to the flower using Wink of Stella. Use Pear Pizzazz ink to stamp three sets of leaves around the stamped rose.

Snail this piece to the 3 5/8″ x 2 7/8″ piece of Rococo Rose cardstock. Tie a piece of coordinating ribbon around this piece, then use dimensionals to attach to the card front, slightly on top of the decorative strip. I used some retired Pear Pizzazz shimmer ribbon I had. A good alternative would be to color a piece of Silver Metallic Edge ribbon with the Light Olive Green Stampin’ Blends Marker and tie it around the stamped image piece.

Inside:

Snail the remaining piece of Rococo Rose cardstock to the inside of the card. Use Rococo Rose ink to stamp the large rose from the Healing Hugs stamp set to the left side of the remaining piece of Very Vanilla cardstock. Use Pear Pizzazz ink to add some leaves to the design.

Use Gray Granite ink to stamp a sentiment to  the inside of the card. I used a sentiment from the Healing Hugs stamp set to make this a ‘Get Well’ card.

Envelope:

Carry the main design of the card onto the envelope by stamping the rose with Rococo Rose ink and one group of leaves using Pear Pizzazz ink. It is not necessary to stamp the entire image onto the envelope as it is quite large.

Again, this is a simple sketch that will give you fabulous results in making your card. Experiment by using different colors or a different stamp set. I find that using a stamp set with a larger design like the rose in the Healing Hugs stamp set works quite well in this type of design and also takes very little time to make it.

PLEASE NOTE: Beginning June 3rd, 2019, Stampin’Up will no longer be selling the Paper Trimmer or Big Shot. They will be introducing new products to replace those sometime during 2019.
