From ‘How’ to ‘Wow’ #2: A Butterfly Thank-You

Continuing with making a “wow” card from a simple sketch, here is another simple sketch similar to the previous sketch I posted. In this one, I have used butterflies and the greeting as the focal point of this card.

Use the basic idea to create several layers on your card base. I chose to use butterflies for this card.

Cut Cardstock:

Assembly:

Emboss one piece of Balmy Blue cardstock with the Layering Leaves embossing folder and adhere to the card front with snail.

Emboss the strip of Pineapple Punch cardstock with the Subtles embossing folder. Use your paper snips to flag the ends, and adhere to the card front with snail.

Use the fourth-largest scalloped oval from the Layering Ovals Framelits to cut an oval from a scrap of Pumpkin Pie cardstock.

Using Memento Ink, stamp the greeting from the Waterfront stamp set onto a piece of Whisper White cardstock and cut out with the fourth-largest oval from the Layering Ovals Framelits. Use dimensionals to adhere this to the Pumpkin Pie scalloped oval, then use dimensionals to adhere to the card front.

Use Memento Ink  to stamp two large and small butterflies from the Butterfly Gala stamp set. Use Grapefruit Grove ink and the coordinating stamps to add color to the butterflies. Punch out with the coordinating Butterfly Punch.

Attach the butterflies to the card front using dimensionals. Use Wink of Stella to add glimmer to the butterflies, then add Pearls for the butterfly bodies.

Inside:

Snail the remaining piece of Balmy Blue cardstock to the inside of the card. Decorate the remaining piece of Whisper White cardstock with small butterflies, and adhere to the inside of the card with snail.

Envelope:

Stamp a small butterfly to the lower left corner of the envelope using Memento and Grapefruit Grove ink.

Try using this sketch with any of your favorite stamp sets and colors of your choice. You could easily swap the butterflies for flowers or leafy stems. I would love to see how you use this sketch to create your own card!
