Tutorial: Whale Done Double Z-Fold Card

As I mentioned on my Facebook Live earlier this week,  I’m in love with the Whale Done bundle! There are so many cute images and such pretty coordinating DSP that I found it super easy and fun to create a Double Z-fold card with it. There is actually very little stamping on this card – DSP does all the work! You can get as simple or elaborate as you want with embellishing it. I’m sharing my version with you today – hope you enjoy it!

Cut Cardstock:
  • Card Base: Bermuda Bay – 11″ x 4 1/4″, score at 5 1/2″ & 2 3/4″
  • Small Z-fold Strip: Bermuda Bay – 11″ x 1 1/4″, score at 5 1/2″ & 2 3/4″
  • Layer Panels: Coastal Cabana – 5 3/8″ x 4 1/8″; 4 1/8″ x 2 5/8″, cut two; 5 3/8″ x 1 1/8″;
  • 2 5/8″ x 1 1/8, cut two
  • Designer Paper Panels: Choose the Designer Paper with the sea kelp edge – 5 1/4″ x 4″,
  • 4″ x 2 1/2″, cut two; 5 1/4″ x 1″; 2 1/2″ x 1″, cut two
  • Pieces of DSP with turtles and whales – for cutting out turtles and whales

Assembly:

Fold the cards base and smaller strip into “Z-folds.”

Punch out one of the larger whales from the DSP, and fussy cut a medium and a small whale from the same paper. Fussy cut two turtles from the other DSP. Place, but DO NOT ADHERE on the three larger DSP panels, so that you know where to stamp the images. Use Coastal Cabana ink to stamp the school of fish image several times as shown in the photo below. Stamp the sentiments using Pretty Peacock ink.

Adhere these stamped panels and the small DSP panels to the corresponding Coastal Cabana panels, then adhere to the card base and small strip. Note that the folds of the card base and smaller strip are opposite.

Use dimensionals to attach the turtles and whales  – refer to photo for placement. Fussy cut some of the seabed coral and kelp from the DSP and use glue to adhere to the smaller Z-fold strip.

Place three medium pearls on the far left panel above the turtle.

When you close the card, the panels will fold and it will look like this:

If desired, use Coastal Cabana ink to stamp the school of fish to the lower left corner of the envelope.
