A background of fern leaves and a small layer of cardstock shows off one simple flower made with the Pressed Petal washi tape. A layer of Merry Merlot cardstock under the background balances the color of the flower.
Cut Cardstock:
- Card base: Whisper White – 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″
- First Layer: Merry Merlot – 5 1/4″ x 4 “, cut two
- Stamped Layer: Whisper White – 5″ x 3 3/4′, cut two
- Green Accent Layer: Garden Green -2 7/8″ x 2 7/8″
- Designer Series Paper: Granny Apple Green Designer Series Paper – 2 3/4″ x 1 3/4″
- Greeting: Whisper White – 3″ x 1 1/2′
- Leaves: Garden Green – 3″ x 1 3/4″
- Flower Center: Scraps of Daffodil Delight
Assembly:
Snail one piece of the Merry Merlot cardstock to the card base.
Use the fern leaf image from the Daisy Lane stamp set and Granny Apple ink to stamp a background on one of the 5″ x 3 3/4″ pieces of Whisper White cardstock. Stamp some of the leaves full strength ink, and stamp off with others so that you have different shades of green for the leaves. To stamp off, simply ink your stamp, then stamp on a piece of scrap paper before stamping on your cardstock. When you are satisfied with this background piece, snail it to the card front.
Snail the piece of Designer Series Paper to the 2 7/8″ x 1 7/8″ piece of Garden Green cardstock, then attach to the card front with dimensionals. See photo for placement.
With the remaining piece of Garden Green cardstock, crop two large leave and one small leaf from the Magnolia Memories dies and set aside.
Punch two 1/2″ circles from Daffodil Delight cardstock. Peel off 5-6 petals from the Pressed Petals washi tape and place on one of the 1/2″ circles, forming a flower. Snail or glue the other 1/2″ circle to the center of the flower. Crop the small flower center from the Magnolia Memories dies, and bend or curl the ‘spokes’ slightly upward and snail or glue to the flower center. To complete the flower, add a small gold faceted gem to the flower center. As an alternative, you could use one of the Perennial Essence Floral Centers for the center of the flower.
Use glue to attach the die cut leaves to the card front – see photo for placement. Use dimensionals or snail the flower to the card front covering the edges of the leaves.
Use Garden Green ink to stamp the ‘Smile’ greeting from the Daisy Lane stamp set onto the 3″ x 1 1/2″ piece of Whisper White cardstock. Crop with the third smallest die from the Stitched Nested Labels framelits. Attach to the card front with snail.
Inside:
Snail the remaining piece of Merry Merlot cardstock to the inside of the card.
Use Garden Green ink to stamp the greeting from the Stitched All Around stamp set to the remaining piece of Whisper White cardstock. Add some fern leaves using Granny Apple Green ink and the image from the Daisy Lane stamp set. Vary the color of the leaves by using full strength ink for some leaves and stamping off for other leaves. Snail this piece to the inside of the card.
Envelope:
Stamp a couple fern leaves on the lower left corner of the envelope using Granny Apple ink and the fern image from the Daisy Lane stamp set.
I hope you enjoy making this card. The Pressed Petal washi tape flower is easy to make and is stunning against the green fern leaves. And the background of fern leaves is very forgiving, as it doesn’t matter if they overlap!
