National Love Your Pet Day

In honor of National Love Your Pet Day, I brought out the Pampered Pets bundle and created two cards – one for dog lovers and one for cat lovers. They’re basically the same sketch for the cards; just switch the colors of cardstock and ink and change the DSP and stamps. Try the same card using the other designs of DSP, and your card will have a different look!

Cut Cardstock for the Dog card:
  • Card Base: Basic White – 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″, score at 4 1/4″
  • First Layer: Real Red – 5 3/8″ x 4 1/8″, cut two
  • Second Layer (front): Basic Black – 4 7/8″ x 3 5/8″
  • Second Layer (inside): Basic White – 5 1/8″ x 3 7/8″
  • Printed Layer: Playful Pets DSP (pawprint)- 4 3/4″ x 3 1/2″
  • DSP Strip: Playful Pets DSP  (words) –  3 1/2″ x 1″
  • Oval: Real Red – 3 1/2″ x 2 1/2″
  • Dog: Basic White- 2 1/2″ x 2 1/4″

Assembly:

Emboss one 5 3/8″ x 4 1/8″ piece of Real Red cardstock with the Old World Paper embossing Folder and adhere to the card base.

Adhere the pawprint DSP to the Basic Black cardstock, then adhere to the card front.

Layer the DSP strip to the center of the card front.

Crop an oval from the small piece of Real Red cardstock with the largest oval die from the Stitched Shapes die set.

Stamp the dog image with Memento ink onto the 2 1/2″ x 2 1/4″ piece of Basic White cardstock. Color the dog with Smoky Slate Stampin’ Blends and the collar with the Light Red Stampin’ Blends. Fill in the nose with a black marker or pen.

Crop the dog with the coordinating die and use dimensionals to adhere to the red oval shape, then attach to the card front using dimensionals. Add a few Matte Black Dots to the red oval. See photo for placement.

Inside:

Adhere the remaining piece of Real Red cardstock to the inside of the card.

Crop the remaining piece of Basic White cardstock with the pawprints die. Stamp the sentiment and dog dish with Memento ink, see photo for placement. Color the dog dish with Light Real Red Stampin’ Blends. Adhere the completed piece to the inside of the card.

Stamp the dog dish onto the lower-left corner of the envelope with Memento ink and color with the Light Real  Red Stampin’ Blends.

For the Cat Card, the measurements of the cardstock are the same.
  • Card Base – Basic White
  • First Layer – Cinnamon Cider (two)
  • Second Layer (front) – Flirty Flamingo
  • Second Layer (inside) – Basic White
  • Printed Layer – Playful Pets DSP
  • Mat for DSP Strip – Cinnamon CIder – 3 1/2″ x 1 1/8″
  • DSP Strip – Playful Pets DSP
  • Oval – Flirty Flamingo
  • Cat – Basic White

Assembly:

The assembly of the cat card is similar to the dog card with the following exceptions:

The Flirty Flamingo oval is cropped with the third largest oval die from the Stitched Shapes dies set.

I added a Cinnamon Cider Mat to the DSP Strip.

I added one Pearl to the Flirty Flamingo oval.

Color the stamped cat image with Cinnamon Cider Stampin’ Blends markers and the ears with Light Flirty Flamingo Stampin’ Blends.

I used the small mouse image on the inside of the card and the envelope and colored it with the Light Smoky Slate Stampin’ Blends marker.
