Here’s a unique card using the rooster as a focal point, but it’s complemented by the crackle paint background and the silver frame shapes. This color combination makes for a striking card even though its elements are simple. The ‘Home To Roost’ stamp set is a free set during the Sale-a-bration months of January-March 2019.

Cut Cardstock:

• Card Base: Whisper White –8 ½” x 5 ½”, score at 4 ¼”
• Second Layer: Blueberry Bushel –5 ¼” x 4” (cut two)
• Third Layer: Whisper White – 5” x 3 ¾” (cut two)
• Focal Point: 
  • Blueberry Bushel – 2 ¾” x 2 ¾”
  • Whisper White – 2 ½” x 2 ½”
  • Silver Foil: (cut three pieces) 3 ¼” x 3 ¼”, 1 ¼” x 3 ½”, 2” x 3 ¼”
• Inside Element:
  • Blueberry Bushel—3 ¾” x ½”
  • Silver Foil—3 ¾” x ¼”

Assembly:

Snail a 5 ¼” x 4 “ piece of Blueberry Bushel card stock to the card base.

Stamp a 5” x 3 ¾” piece of Whisper White cardstock with the Crackle Paint stamp using Blueberry Bushel ink. Snail to the card front.

Using the two largest squares from the Stitched Shapes framelits, cut a ‘frame’ from the 3 ¼” square of silver foil.

Using the two smallest narrow shapes from the Rectangle Stitched framelits, cut another ‘frame’ from the 3 ½”” x 1 ¼” piece of silver foil. Using the two smallest wider shapes from the Rectangle Stitched framelits, cut another ‘frame’ from the 3 ¼”x 2” silver foil.

Arrange the three silver ‘frames’ in a pleasing pattern on the card front and glue in place. Refer to photo for placement.

With Stazon ink, stamp the rooster from the ‘Home To Roost’ stamp set onto the center of the 2 ½” square piece of Whisper White cardstock. Using the small dots from the ‘Wonderful Romance’ stamp set and Smokey Slate ink, stamp off on a piece of scrap paper, then stamp dots randomly alongside the rooster to add interest to the piece. Do this several times to create a pleasing background for the rooster.

Using the  Watercolor Pencils and a blender pen, color the rooster using Pacific Point and Basic Gray. Color the rooster’s comb and wattle with the Real Red pencil full strength. Color a small patch of the ground underneath the rooster with the Early Espresso pencil and a blender pen. Snail the completed rooster piece to the 2 ¾” square piece of Blueberry Bushel cardstock, then use dimensionals to attach this piece to the card front.

INSIDE:

Snail the remaining piece of Blueberry Bushel cardstock to the inside.

Snail the strip of Silver Foil paper to the strip of Blueberry Bushel cardstock then snail this piece near the top of the remaining piece of Whisper White cardstock.

Stamp the ‘Thinking of You’ sentiment from the ‘Wonderful Romance’ stamp set using Stazon ink. Snail to the inside of the card.

ENVELOPE:

I always like to decorate the envelope a bit just to make the project a little more special for the person who will receive it.

I used the tall grass stamp from the ‘Home To Roost’ stamp set’  and Stazon ink to stamp just the top portion of the grass on the envelope.

Cut Cardstock:

• Card Base:
  • Whisper White -8 ½” x 5 ½”, score at 4 ¼” and 2 1/8”
  • One piece  Whisper White– 3 ½” x 2 ½” to be cut with framelit
  • Inside piece Whisper White -5 1/8” x 3 7/8”
• Second Layer: Lovely Lipstick – 5 3/8” x 2”
  • One piece Lovely Lipstick – 4 ½” x 3 ¼” to be cut with framelit
  • One piece Lovely Lipstick -3½” x 2” to be cut with hearts framelit
  • Inside piece Lovely Lipstick– 5 3/8 ‘ x 4 1/8”
  • All My Love Designer Series Paper – multiple heart pattern – One piece 5 ¼” x 1 7/8”
  • Optional – scrap of Flirty Flamingo cardstock

Assembly:

Fold the cardstock base in half, then fold back on the 2 1/8” score line. Snail the folded-back piece together to make the card front more sturdy.

Snail the 5 3/8” x 2” Lovely Lipstick piece to the left card front, then snail the piece of Designer Paper onto that.

Using the 4 ½” x 3 ¼” piece of Lovely Lipstick, cut out the second largest label shape from the Stitched Seasons framelits.

Using the 3 ½” x 2 ½” piece of Whisper White cardstock, cut out the smallest label shape from the Stitched Seasons framelits. Using Lovely Lipstick ink, stamp this piece with the greeting from the Meant To Be stamp set toward the bottom. Stamp the small heart toward the top of the piece, leaving a gap in the middle.

Snail the label-shaped pieces together, then use dimensionals to attach to the card front as shown in the picture. Remember to use the dimensionals only on the left side of the piece so it doesn’t stick to the inside of the card.

Use the 3 ½” x 2” piece of Lovely Lipstick cardstock to cut out the multi-heart die shape from the Be Mine Stitched framelits. Use the paper snips and trim some of the hearts outlines off and glue the remaining piece to the card front as pictured.

If desired, use a scrap of Flirty Flamingo cardstock and cut out the multi-heart shape, saving the little hearts. Use one or more of the little hearts to fill in the heart shape on the card front.

INSIDE:

Snail the 5 3/8” x 4 1/8” piece of Lovely Lipstick to the inside.

Use the scalloped edge framelit from the Be Mine Stitched framelits to trim the right edge of the 5 1/8” x 3 7/8” piece of Whisper White cardstock. Stamp this piece with the greeting and multi-hearts stamp from the Forever Lovely stamp set using Lovely Lipstick ink. Snail this piece to the inside of the card.

ENVELOPE:

Complete your project by stamping the multi-heart stamp with Lovely Lipstick ink to the lower left corner of your envelope.

Here’s a simple yet pretty card using a free stamp set (available now through March 31 with any $50 purchase of Stampin’Up products during the Sale-a-bration event).

All of the stamps used are from the By The Bay stamp set, and with a few other supplies you can create this pretty card.

Cut Cardstock:

• Card Base: Whisper White — 8 ½” x 5 ½”, score at 4 ¼”
  • 5″ x 3 7/8” (for inside)
• Second Layer: Crumb Cake —5 3/8” x 4 1/8” (cut one for card front only)
• Third Layer: Balmy Blue — 5 ¼” x 4” (cut two)
  • ¼” x 5” strip for inside
• Scraps of Whisper White for stamped pieces

Snail the Crumb Cake card stock onto the card front.

Emboss one of the Balmy Blue pieces with the Seaside embossing folder, making sure the lines on the folder run from side to side to resemble ripples in the water, then snail onto the Crumb Cake piece.

Using Stazon ink and stamps from the By The Bay stamp set, stamp the shore birds, seashell and ‘Thinking of You’ sentiment onto scrap pieces of Whisper White card stock.  Cut out the stamped pieces with the smallest and second largest ovals from the Stitched Shapes Framelits.

Color the stamped images using a Blender Pen with Balmy Blue, Soft Suede and Flirty Flamingo ink. I transfer the ink onto an acrylic block and pick up the color with a Blender Pen to color the images.

Use Dimensionals to attach the stamped pieces to the card front — refer to photo for placement.

For the inside, snail the narrow Balmy Blue strip near the bottom of the Whisper White card stock, then stamp and color the seashell image near the bottom left side. Add a sentiment of your choice or leave inside blank to write your own message. Snail this piece to the remaining Balmy Blue piece of card stock, then snail onto the inside of the card.

Stamp the outside of the envelope with the seashell stamp to complete this project.
